Dr. Brian Collins grew up in upstate New York on a farm. Prior to attending the veterinary school at Cornell he worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center and managed an animal shelter. After graduation he worked in a mixed animal practice in central New York but for the past 9 years has worked at Colonial Veterinary Hospital in Ithaca, NY focusing on small animal practice. He has been a volunteer and board member of the Tompkins County SPCA for 7 years. Brian joined SOS in July 2005. His other interests include running, biking, kayaking, hiking, gardening, and reading. His animal family includes 2 dogs, Penelope and Tofufu, 2 cats, Dulcinea and Quinoa, 2 ferrets, Frank and Frida, and 2 mice.
