Dr. Patty Pate grew up in the state of Mississippi, and as a teenager, enjoyed competing in equestrian events on her horse Lucky. She received her B.S. in education and taught high school Biology and Anatomy prior to becoming a veterinarian. She received her DVM at Mississippi State University in 1997, and then completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at Texas A & M. She has worked in small animal practices in Texas, Long Island, Ithaca, and now in Skaneateles. She joined Shelter Outreach Services in 2013, and is currently sterilizing around 60 animals a week. Her family includes two teenage sons, Ethan and Carver, two cats, Bitty and Spotty, and two dogs, Bonsai and Lily.
